Our client is seeking a Staff Scientist / Patent Agent in Intellectual Property (Chemistry). The position involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications both domestically in the US and internationally, including responding to Office actions, examiner interviews, and appeals. The candidate will conduct freedom-to-operate searches, IP landscape analyses, and due diligence for asset transactions or securities offerings. Responsibilities also include invalidity and non-infringement assessments, advising clients on prosecution strategies, monitoring competitor patent filings, and participating in contested proceedings like inter partes review and post-grant review at the US Patent Office or in district courts. Additionally, the role supports agreements related to licensing, collaborations, and services. Candidates should hold an advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., with a strong chemistry background, excellent communication skills, and a client-service focus. Prior law firm experience and USPTO patent bar membership are highly preferred. The firm operates in a hybrid model requiring in-office presence at least four days per week, with schedule flexibility based on organizational needs. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $215,000.
