The firm is seeking a highly motivated Patent Agent or Advisor to join its active patent counseling and prosecution practice, specifically in the medtech sector. Ideal candidates will have substantive industry experience, at least one year of law-firm experience, and a degree in materials, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related discipline). Broad scientific knowledge in mechanical and/or biomedical engineering is required, and an advanced degree is preferred. Candidates should be registered U.S. patent agents or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

Key responsibilities include conducting prior-art searches for patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, reviewing scientific literature to support patent attorneys in prosecution, counseling, and litigation, and drafting patent applications as well as responses to USPTO office actions. Strong technical abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.

The expected salary range is $125,000 to $228,000, depending on location, experience, and skills.
