Training Specialist
Our client’s Chicago Office is looking for a Training Specialist. The Training Specialist will work closely with the Learning and Development Manager to assist and support the implementation, administration and coordination of all employee benefits.
As the Training Specialist, your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Proactively assesses, designs, develops, delivers and evaluates training programs and services
- Conducts orientation and detailed training programs for all new hires on firm applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, legal software applications, and document management software
- Routinely follows up with all new hires to ascertain additional training needs; assesses individual’s software skills and then provides customized training as needed
- Conducts instructor-led classroom, one-on-one, and remote training sessions
- Conducts refresher classes and firm-specialized classes
- Incorporates engaging learning techniques into all workshops and classes
- Assists with development of technology training for CLE credit
- Evaluates new applications and new versions of existing applications and determines applicability and usefulness in the firm’s environment; assists with developing end user application configurations
- Develops and delivers new application training
- Develops end user materials including quick reference guides and training videos for new applications
- Develops project plans and maintains project task lists
- Creates training documentation, instructor outlines, quick reference guides and other training aids
- Creates eLearning modules and training videos using a software suite
- Evaluates new hire training, workshops and seminars, and adjusts them accordingly
- Tracks training attendance in workshops and records the information electronically in a learning management system
- Creates and maintains training content (i.e., videos, documentation, quizzes, surveys) in a learning management system
- Maintains training rooms, training equipment, class schedules, class rosters and training databases; keeps up to date with new industry standards and best practices
- Provides training and technical support, including ad hoc training needs and, from time to time, floor support as requested by the Learning and Development Manager
- Assists with developing and training the Technology Support Center team on new end-user applications
- Assists with developing and training role specific training including practice area workflows
- Analyzes attorney and nonlegal staff technology needs and discusses application of appropriate technologies to meet these needs
- Collaborates with information systems teams by participating in quality assurance testing for new systems, products and enhancements; records and reports results
- Travels to other office locations to conduct training, assess training needs and provide assistance as needed
- Completes other projects and duties as assigned by the Learning and Development Manager
Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to develop training and execute on deliverables with little guidance
- Strong decision-making and project management skills
- Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules and ability to travel up to 10% of the time, both domestic and internationally
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed if work load requires it
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience training legal or professional services employees preferred
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred
