Tax Manager
General Statement of Duties:
Our client is currently hiring for a Tax Manager to join the team in its Dallas office. The Tax Manager is primarily responsible for filing accurate Firm tax returns and payments on time. This position will research and respond to tax-related questions from partners and their tax advisors, and assist with developing strategies to minimize taxes and comply with domestic and international tax reporting obligations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the Firm’s year-end tax process, which includes reviewing and/or preparing tax schedules that are sent to the Firm’s outside tax preparers, reviewing draft Schedule K-1s and tax returns for accuracy and completeness, and preparing communications to partners that accompany the Schedule K-1
- Respond to tax-related questions from partners and/or their tax advisers promptly
- Respond to information requests and notices from various taxing agencies
- Prepare and/or review various federal, state, city and local tax returns; mail or file these returns on-line with required payments to include income, property and use tax returns
- Coordinate the planning and completion of any tax audits by federal, state, local, and foreign revenue authorities
- Must be proactive and aware of changing tax legislation and the effects on the Firm; recommend any actions to be taken
- Act as liaison with the Firm’s outside tax preparers to obtain their advice on complex tax issues and questions
- Assist with analyzing proposed business transactions to evaluate tax consequences
- Coordinate the state composite election process with partners; this will include distributing election forms to all partners, evaluating their responses, and providing information to the Firm’s outside tax preparers
- Calculate income taxes that the Firm pays on behalf of partners and provide the information to Accounting so that amounts are deducted from partner draws.
- Coordinate the abandoned property process by identifying applicable property and the filing of applicable returns
- Streamline tax related processes to improve productivity and documents processes and procedures.
- Develop and implement ideas to make tax reporting to partners comprehensive and easy to understand
- Perform other tasks, duties, and projects as needed and as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s Degree in Taxation and a CPA license required
- Minimum 8 years of related experience, including international tax experience particularly Europe. Partnership tax experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong spreadsheet skills – must possess advanced Excel knowledge
- The ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in a dynamic environment under time constraints.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Supervisory Responsibility – This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment – This position operates in a professional office environment.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours – This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Travel – No travel is expected for this position.
