Pricing Operations Analyst
This will be a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Manager of Pricing Operations. The Pricing Operations Analyst will also work closely with partners and Firm management.

The Pricing Operations Analyst serves as a key member of the firm’s Practice Management team and will be an important figure in further developing and evangelizing the Firm‘s profitability, while strongly focusing on optimizing department operational initiatives. S/he will be responsible for: ensuring the Firm’s client financial arrangements are accurate in enterprise systems, interfacing with billing and Practice Specialists to ensure bills are rendered properly, providing insight and support around Firm data collection/reporting priorities, and utilizing project management tools to support and train attorneys and business operations professionals.

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist with research, analysis, and implementation of various client billing requirements including but not limited to, billing rate arrangements, phase/task coding, and timekeeper approval.
  • Process requests from various departments in the billing system to update client and matter settings.
  • Monitor and update various client discount arrangements; including setting tracking alerts.
  • Entry and upkeep of client arrangements in firm deal database.
  • Assist with year end and ad hoc updates to client and timekeeper changes in billing rate arrangements.
     

Essential Functions Of Job

 

  • Collaborate with Pricing Operations Manager and intake team on maintenance initiatives including but not limited to: rate updates, phase/task code updates, matter tagging, client deal information updates.
  • Work with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that client financial arrangements are properly articulated, updated, and documented in Firm’s pricing database.
  • Manage the data-mining process for new and existing matters. This includes gathering and maintaining information on fee arrangements, matter types, cost drivers, task coding, among other items.
  • Monitor compliance with Firm budgeting and pricing policies, as well as the financial aspects of client guidelines and terms; provide guidance to attorneys and support staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with Billing, eBilling, and Practice Specialists to ensure most current client financial arrangements are communicated and properly administered.
  • Collaborate with lawyers, practice management colleagues, and the marketing department to respond to RFPs, pitches, and other pricing proposals.
  • Work with partners to enter budgets and other fee arrangement data into online matter management tool, then monitor and provide regular status reports to partners and management. This will be done in conjunction with the Budget Control Analyst.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports related to all aspects of practice management.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
     

Qualifications And Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of pricing or operational analysis experience with a Law Firm
  • Experience with legal accounting systems (specifically Aderant and/or Elite)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with emphasis in areas of finance, cost, and pricing;
  • Understanding of accounting and business principles;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills;
  • The ability to project a polished, professional image, and communicate comfortably and confidently with all levels of personnel;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment
     

Education

Required: Bachelor’s Degree

Major (if applicable): Finance, Accounting, or related discipline

Computer/Software Knowledge

Required

 

  • Fluency with the advanced features of Excel, as well as legal accounting systems (specifically Aderant and/or Elite).
  • Proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and use software systems associated with designated responsibilities.
     

Work Environment

 

  • The current Firm policy is hybrid–working in the office a minimum of 3 days per week and working from home the rest of the week (subject to change).
  • After hours and weekend work will be required on occasion as the workload requires.

The expected salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $95,000. The actual base salary offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
