POSITION TITLE: System Administrator 
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology 
FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Full-time 
REPORTS TO: Director of IT 
  
SUMMARY: 
The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network and server systems, as well as hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, networks, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards.  
 
RESPONSIBLITIES: 

  • Act as primary provider of Level 3 support on escalated Help Desk tickets involving Microsoft Windows, Office 365, and other software 
  • Troubleshooting network related issues involving routing, switching, firewalls, wireless access points, etc. 
  • Working with 3rd party vendors as needed to resolve network, server, and application related issues 
  • Perform administrative tasks for Microsoft servers including monitoring server and system operation; installing upgrades, patches, and fixes as appropriate; ensuring proper server backups; identifying and resolving technical problems; and ensuring proper security and configuration of existing and new server installations 
  • Take a lead role on assigned IT projects, such as software upgrades, application deployments, and new system implementations 
  • Conduct Active Directory administration including creation and maintenance of AD objects (users, computers, sites, etc.), monitoring of proper replication of AD information between sites, ensuring best practices are applied within the AD environment, and performing maintenance and backups of the AD environment 
  • Perform hardware maintenance on servers, workstations, laptops, and other equipment including diagnosis, recommendation, repair, upgrade, and replacement as necessary. 
  • Keep current on IT developments, recommending upgrades in hardware and software systems as appropriate 
  • Monitor and ensure installation of operating system updates for PCs, servers, and assigned software applications 
  • Lead application evaluation process for possible new software applications 
  • Plan for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support firm growth 
  • Mentor team members and educate users when necessary 
  • Resolve configuration and/or logistical issues using technical problem-solving skills 
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of the IT systems and deployments 

 
TECHNICAL AND SOFT SKILLS: 

  • Ability to configure, install, troubleshoot, and maintain servers and network equipment. 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, group policy, and Server operating systems 
  • Hands on experience building and configuring Windows physical and virtual servers (Server 2016, 2019, 2022)  
  • Must have strong customer service skills and the ability to deal diplomatically with a wide variety of personalities 
  • Team player with a demonstrated history of working collaboratively and effectively with others 
  • Proven ability to multi-task and to prioritize rapidly changing task assignments 
  • Must have good verbal skills, be able to explain technical items to non-technical personnel, be able to understand a variety of instructions and problem statements and be able to read and write functional technical documentation 
  • Self-motivated leader who takes initiative on projects and assigned tasks 
  • Creative troubleshooting skills and the ability to “think outside of the box” 
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning and rapidly mastering new applications and technology 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends 

 
QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE: 

  • 2+ years’ experience as a System/Network Administrator providing support for the implementation and maintenance of IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution 
  • LAN and WAN Knowledge, Network Troubleshooting, and basic Network Hardware Configuration 
  • Practical application and troubleshooting experience with systems that interface with Active Directory, Exchange, and Office 365 
  • Experience running scripts to manage/automate tasks related to Windows platforms 
  • Customer support experience to include phone, email and in person contact as well as experience assisting end users 
  • Experience with SCCM, Intune, PowerShell, Azure, and Cisco desired 
  • Experience with the migration of on-premises machines to Azure desired
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • IT certifications are a plus, especially CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) 

 MISCELLANEOUS: 

  • This position is remote; however, we prefer someone that lives in the Philadelphia area 
  • Occasional travel, as needed, to various offices
