Our client is seeking an experienced Patent Prosecution Paralegal for their Chicago, Milwaukee, or Madison office. This role involves managing all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution for a range of clients and technologies. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience working with intellectual property, with a strong focus on patent prosecution. A background in research institutions or tech transfers is preferred, but not required. Responsibilities include coordinating the filing of new patent applications, analyzing USPTO and foreign counsel correspondence, tracking due dates using docketing systems, and preparing client reports and prosecution documents.
The role also involves communication with the USPTO, attorneys, paralegals, liaisons, foreign associates, and clients to ensure smooth case management. A bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification is preferred, along with a minimum of two years of law firm experience. Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a large patent docket are essential. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional client service, the ability to work independently, and thrive in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.
