The Family Law Paralegal will support attorneys in managing family law cases, including divorce, child custody, support, adoption, and name changes. The role involves reviewing, organizing, and analyzing cases, drafting various legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and petitions, and preparing case materials for court appearances. Responsibilities include handling client documentation, scheduling hearings and meetings, and maintaining case files. The paralegal will also conduct legal research using resources like Lexis Nexis and Westlaw, stay updated on relevant state and local rules, and manage communication with clients, opposing counsels, and experts.
Candidates should have a paralegal certificate or an Associate's Degree, with a Bachelor’s Degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience in family law is required, demonstrating strong legal writing skills and case analysis. Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Word, iManage, and legal research tools is essential. The role demands excellent project management, communication skills, and the ability to work independently while being a team player.
