Our client is currently seeking a full-time Director of Accounting. This position will oversee the financial operations of the firm and supervise a staff of three. The Director of Accounting will be a part of the firm's management team and report to the Chief Financial Officer. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and thrive in a team environment, while still possessing initiative and drive. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee firm financial operations, including cash management, general ledger, reporting, insurance renewals, payroll, and audits.
  • Develop the appropriate accounting policies and related internal control processes.  Establish a culture that ensures prompt communication with firm personnel and external stakeholders making sure that everyone exhibits a high level of customer service at all times
  • Generate and balance month-end operational reports.
  • Supervise staff of three.
  • Manage banking relationships and firm credit cards.
  • Handle quarterly and annual employer tax requirements.
  • Maintain data in firm systems and databases.
  • Assist CEO and firm committees with various special projects as needed.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of law firm experience with the last 4 of those spent as a Controller or equivalent.
  • B.S. in Accounting; MBA/CPA preferred.
  • Aderant software experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Technical proficiency in Excel and database reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to think independently and take ownership of projects as assigned.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive, confidential information.
  • Superior working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro.
